Have towcar ... will travel !!!!
Hooray, at long, long last we collected our Sorento from Wilts on Sat and literally drove it off the forecourt as the first snowflakes fell (luckily we didn't need to engage the 4x4 beast!). Taking a bit of getting used too for me, I must say as I'm used to my low down very nippy Mondeo 2.2 turbo diesel - Sorento is very high up so I feel as if I'm bouncing along (making me feel a bit sick!) - five gears instead of 6 and a bit slower at pulling away from junctions, but with a caravan on the back ... that's probably not a bad thing! Think we'll have to invest in some running boards as I'm struggling to get into it and my poor Mum was positively hauled into the back seat by my Dad on Saturday, which at 67 was probably a step too far for her!
So looking forward to visiting Broadway for the weekend with our lovely neighbours on 9th March (bet it's still freezing by then) and have already booked several weekends/weeks away up till end August and hope to book some more! Even my teen son is getting quite excited by the prospect of the impending trip.
Oh, and for those romantics of you out there ... I had a pair of neoprene wellies as an early Valentines present as they're warm, lightweight and brightly coloured (for the caravan you know).

Hi Parksy, never fear - I wouldn't desert PC - it's too invaluable! We are shopping around for Running Boards as the prices seem to vary greatly. John will be hooking up soon, once he's also got used to driving the Sorento and he will be off around all the local industrial estates to practice his moves (neighbour going along as moral support which is good). He's not worried about towing as he used to be the planesman and drive Navy nuclear subs ... it's me who's the nervous one. To that end I will certainly be savng up to go on a towing course for the day as I think it would be pretty silly of me not too ... be prepared!
The towing course is a good idea, this will give you the confidence to take over the towing duties if John goes 'off watch' and industrial estates are good places for John to practice his reversing skills and become a good coxswain

Congratulations on collecting your Sorrento, there are several forum members who own a Sorrento and they seem to be a popular tow car.
The Sorrento Forum might be a good source of information about your lovely new tug and they might advise you about the best place to buy running boards but I'm not trying to encourage you to desert us here on Practical Caravan forum.
Not long to go until March but I bet that you won't be able to resist hooking up and giving the outfit a bit of a road test around your local area.
