Well ordered the beast in August for delivery about now,  can have it in December sometime if we have a colour we don't like or now have to wait until Feb/Mar for the right colour, although still not the now discontinuing colour we picked!!!! thanks LR!! they've had force 10 in their ears today!!!!!  Hats off to the dealers though who are even going to insure the Rexton while we wait once the insurance runs out at the end of the month. Not a happy bunny though especially as the interest rate not worth holding the money. Even the fact of it being registered in 2012 not 2011 won't make much diffrence when we change it in 20 years time!!  Okay end of rant!!!!

With LR having a  6 month waiting list for the Evoque and making a reputed £24k per Range Rover (full size) it's no surprise that the humble ( and mighty) Defender takes back seat. Look at it positively if you wait until spring your door frames, bulkhead and outriggers will somewhat longer.

Cheers

Martin,

I seem to recall a while ago that there was problems for Land Rover getting some paint colours? I think it was something to do with the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that wiped out the plant that produces the paint pigments. This may explain why you have a delay with your choice of colour?

I thought all proper Land-Rovers were the same colour - muddy!

There has been talk of tsunami problems but not a delay in my colour but a total change and no news of it until delivery due that's annoyed me!! Just typical LR really I suppose!! Waiting for the swatch of the new colour before deciding which of the now available colours we'll have but will probably be the new green.  Yes I do think all efforts have gone into that new thing and the concept replacement for the defender instead of getting on with fulfilling the orders they have. Dealer not happy either although being very helpful with insurance etc for the rexton!!!

Hope the chasis isn't stood outside somewhere or it'll of rusted through before delivery!!!!

The biggest problem is that LR have still got it far too easy, and whilst that continues, so will their arrogance. I have tried to get a paper copy of a Discovery 4 brochure (I don't want to sit looking at a computer screen all the time!), and despite calls to Stealers (and an ingnored email to the Sales Manager at the Chesterfield stealership), and a request on my behalf directly to LR through a well respected friend in the motoring press, I'm still waiting. They're just not bothered.

Doesn't surprise me Nigel!! We had problems getting a defender brochure from LR but did get the last one from our dealership once we ordered it.  No point in going on to the website to look at much anyway because it is very out of date.  You can't order a 110 xs with a sun roof with a 2.4 engine and all the new ones are all being built with the new 2.2, this was the case when we ordered in August and the website still says 2.4 etc.. The colours are also out of date, the Galway green which we had ordered has not been available for two weeks and in real terms not for months as we ordered it August!! All LR/RR still offered with it on line but been replaced by the new Aintree Green. Most of the colours available for the 110 are unavailable and colours not on the website are available!!  Still if the disco brochure is as helpful as the pack we just received from Mini it won't be worth having! Not one picture of the boot and we ended up having to go to look at the dealership to discount it from the swimbo car search!! I think the general view is they can sell LR products without bothering and the general attitude is you either want one or you don't. Have to say we didn't like the disco from the point of view of being just too much to go wrong, despite enjoying the drive! Good luck!!!!!

With all those hassles I am surprised that you even ordered a LR. No such issues with many Jap made vehicles.  LOL!

If you're ordering directly through a dealer, ie not through a leasing company, then that's either laziness or incompetence on the part of the dealer - Hyundai dealers have access to the factory batch built date/availability so should know when it's being built and scheduling the shipping, etc

Even when there's delays there's no excuse for not quoting a firm delivery date AND sticking to it - Land-Rover is taking a huge amount of stick at the moment, not because of delays, but inability to give accurate delivery dates however far away they are.

I ordered through a dealer,Milton Keynes Hyundai but they say the build date that should have been October 20th has been postponed, they have only just started building autos and maybe they are hitting problems I have phoned Hyundai UK who are very polite but don't say any more and just nicely say cancel it if you dont want to wait.
