My 5 year old has been a perfect companion for my wife and myself since we started tenting, when he was 2 year old. He loves to play on the kids area and in recent trips has been able to go off on his own, in views of us, and make new friends etc.

Our last trip with our recently aquired caravan saw a slightly despressed little boy when the C&CC site at Barnard Castle had a very well maintained and safe kids area but alas, only a swing and slide. Our question on whether hed like to go on another trip one weekend in sep was met with "yes i would, but only if there is more than a swing and a slide".

I realise that any play area is a plus, but hes been such a good lad after the birth of his little sister (now 6 weeks old) that i want to try and make his wish come true and get on a site with a play area to die for.

Im avoiding the haven type site as they seem to have nothing but bad reviews.

We live in newcastle and will travel anywhere above York to Scottish borders but nowhere too hilly as my car struggles on the hills.

Hi Andy

Have a look at Lowther Park, just south of Penrith.

Andy

Have a look at Wild Rose Park near Appleby in Westmoreland. Stayed there a few years ago and thought it was a good place.
