One of the better CC sites and can recommend it.

My son lives down the road in Cardiff, so use it a lot. Good site, good location, good bus service into Cardiff / Newport, easy for other parts of South Wales.

If you do go out and are coming back late, do not forget to take the key for the park gates and have a torch handy. There are set times when the gates are locked by council park staff, very early in winter.

We have just spent New Year there as we have relatives in south Wales.  Nice site, generally level Hardstanding pitches.  Usual CC high standard of toilet blocks.   Very friendly Wardens.  Set in Tredegar Park, which is very nice.

There is quite a bit of motorway noise from the M4.  Also there was also the sound of what we first took to be clay pigeon shooting, but someone told us was a farmer bird scaring.  This went on consistently through  the day, although was easy to tune out.  The chap in the van next to us said it was really upsetting his dog however.

To get to the site you go through the Park, and there are gates half way along that are locked at dusk.  Not a problem once you have checked in as you are issued with a key.  However if you arriving for the first time after dark you may want to phone ahead for instructions as there was no sign on the gate indicating that the site was on the other side.

We like this site because we get to visit the relatives without having to stay with them.  Good also for visiting Cardiff which has much to recommend it and Newport which probably has a bit less.  Not exactly a country side retreat though, although the park is pleasant.

Thanks for the replies.

My wife booked this site and from the replies it would appear she has picked a brilliant one.

I have a  Status 530-5 Aerial will this pick up a signal or will I need to take my Sat Dish?

From the tone of the replies it appears that this site has had a huge turn-around. It is situated on the edge of a large council estate, and  when we used it some five or six years ago, it was plagued by children and yobs from the estate riding round on bikes. The wardens did try hard to beat them back, but it was a losing battle. The wardens must have changed too, as they were quite miserable then.As has been said, it is also rather noisy. Not a site I want to rush back to, but hey ho, you can't please everyone!

It's better in a Royale!

We last used it in 2005 and never had any issues with yobs off the estate and found the wardens to be quite helpful.

i have been using the site for the last 10 years , never seen any trouble there , unless its happened when i havent been as i only go about twice a year , there were some Gypsies on a field as you go into the park but they didnt cause any trouble and were soon moved on , you wont need a satellite dish for normal freeview channels , also there are barriers at the entrance and exit to the site , if you go midweek at certain times of the year you get a 50% discount off your pitch fee , not far from the site is a CL which was featured in the CC mag a while back , all hardstanding and a beautiful view
