Companies from Lanarkshire and North Yorkshire have been recognised for their high standards of work and customer service through this year’s Approved Workshop Scheme (AWS) awards, with the results announced at last week’s Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show.

The AWS Fixed Workshop of the Year 2024 has been awarded to Kirk Caravan Services of Lanark in Lanarkshire. A member of the AWS since 2013, winner Colin Kirk and his wife Lorraine were up at 4am to travel down to the Birmingham NEC to collect their award.

Colin said: “We work really hard so we were really chuffed to win. It was a nice early start this morning – but all good.”

Meanwhile, Kurts Mobile Caravan Services, a scheme member for 17 years, based near Thirks in North Yorkshire took the top spot for AWS Mobile Workshop of the Year 2024. Kurt said: “It’s great to win! We work tirelessly to give exceptional service and we are glad to be recognised.”

The annual awards which were presented at the NEC show on 19 February, are judged on a range of criteria including compliance with the scheme’s requirements, customer reviews and votes, and the results of assessments.

Martin Raybould, managing director of Engineer Insurance and Aftercare, who sponsored the awards said: “We exclusively use AWS workshops… and supporting the awards was a natural step, along with becoming an NCC member to grow our business.”

It was not just the Workshop of the Year winners that were announced last week – the results of the Owner Satisfaction Awards 2025 were also released, with Coachman named the best manufacturer overall.

Visitors to the February NEC Show also got to see new accessories on display such as the Campingaz range of lightweight barbecues.
