Barnsdale Leisure has gone into voluntary liquidation, blaming difficult conditions in the market.

The dealer sold two well-known makes of caravan, Adria and Knaus, including models such as the Adria Adora 623DT Sava. However, unlike other recent closures in the industry, the Pontefract-based dealership, founded 11 years ago, is not closing down altogether.

While caravan sales will cease at Barnsdale Leisure, its workshop is continuing, and it plans to use the space vacated by caravan sales as a motorhome brokerage site. Future plans include setting up a caravan and motorhome body shop as well.

Charlie Schofield at Barnsdale Leisure said, “We have sorted out every outstanding customer, and no one has lost any deposits. No vans have gone missing.”

The news about the dealer follows on from Broad Lane Leisure, which called in the administrators in July. The dealer, based in the south Midlands, had continued to face cashflow problems, despite selling its Kenilworth site to Spinney earlier in 2024.
