When you go on tour you’re limited by the amount of kit that you can carry, of course, but one item that it’s always worth making room for is a good tool kit. That’s because the unexpected can (and does) happen, so it’s always best to be prepared. Amazon Prime Day is a great opportunity to look at the various tool kits on offer and secure a bargain – and this year I’ve found a number that are on sale for a good price.

Prime Day may be almost over – today is the final day – but it’s not too late to grab a bargain. Here are some of the toolkits that have caught my eye.

Draper 08627 Tool Kit with Storage Case

Draper 08627 Tool Kit with Storage Case (100-piece) was £124.99 now £92.99

British brand Draper is a big name in tool production, so I was pleased to find one of the company’s tool sets at a reduced price on Prime Day – it currently has a 26% discount.

This is a biggie, at 100 pieces, and contains everything you might need (and more) when you’re out on tour. Tools include a vast range of spanners, bits and square drive sockets, as well as a useful tape measure and a utility knife. Unsurprisingly, the set is heavy, at 7.5kg.

Amazon Basics tool kit

Amazon Basics Household Tool Set was £20.99 now £17.69

This toolkit is part of Amazon’s basics range, which in my experience has always proved good value for money. It’s certainly basic in content, but it’s a neat little set that will help you sort simple jobs.

The set includes screwdrivers, pliers, bits, a bit holder, a machinist’s hammer, a utility knife, an adjustable wrench, eight hex key wrench and a useful roll of insulation tape. There’s also a voltage tester – very handy for caravanners. It’s not the most comprehensive, but it’s impressively priced for what you get.

Draper HI-TORQ 25 Piece Spanner Set was £87.77 now £35.99

If you’re just looking for a spanner set, there’s a great Prime Day deal to be had on this one. The 25-piece Draper set covers sizes ranging from 6-23mm, and is manufactured from chrome vanadium steel, for extra durability and strength. The spanners’ ring ends are set at 15-degrees, to allow easier access, and each tool features chrome plating to protect against corrosion. The set also comes in a Tetron storage pouch, keeping the tools tidy when you’re on the road.

Enventor Tool Kit Set

Enventor Tool Kit Set General Household Hand Tool Kit, 218 pieces was £69.99 now £49.99

This 218-piece set is comprehensive, and features a slightly different range of items than the others included here. One reviewer described it as being handy for “minor plumbing, electrical, mechanical and a spot of woodwork,” so is likely to be of use around your caravan.

I was particularly impressed to see the inclusion of a spirit level, which is handy for when you’re levelling your van. Everything packs neatly into a sturdy plastic box, and the whole set weighs a fraction less than 6kg.

DEKO Tool Set with Cordless Drill

DEKO Tool Set with Cordless Drill was £59.99 now £49.99

I spotted a decent 18% discount on this attractive, black-and-orange set, which includes both a good number of tools and an 8V cordless drill. Aside from the drill – which is supplied with a type-C 1.5A charging charger – there’s a pair of pliers, a trio of screwdrivers, ¼” sockets, a claw hammer, an adjustable wrench, hex keys, a tape measure and more. Some drill bits are also included, and the entire set packs away into a plastic case.

Makita E-11542 87 Piece Mechanics Set
Image: Amazon

Makita E-11542 87 Piece Mechanics Set was £101.33 now £86.09

I’m tempted by 87-piece Makita set, which has received a 15% discount over Prime Day. Unusually, the tools are stacked in two layers – you need to remove the top one before you can access the second – but the case they come in looks solid and sturdy, and the set weighs 5kg. The tools themselves include a ratchet screwdriver, 40 screw bits, a magnetic bit holder, seven sockets, an adjustable wrench, combination pliers and more, so there should be everything you need here for most DIY tasks.
