The Camping and Caravanning Club has announced Jane Read has been elected as the new Chairman, following a recent AGM at Doubletree by Hilton Glasgow Westerwood Spa & Golf Resort.
The Club operates nearly 100 sites around the UK, including campsites which are open all year for fans of caravanning in winter.
Jane, who replaces Chris Chester who had been in the role since November 2022, has been involved in the Club since the 1990s, when she was volunteering as the Norfolk and Suffolk DA Secretary, before subsequently moving on to become Eastern Region Secretary. A role as a National Councillor followed in 2010, before she was appointed Club Vice Chairman for the previous two years.
Jane said: “I will continue to represent members’ interest on the Club’s committees, to do my best to keep them happy and engaged with us.”
She added: “The thing I enjoy most about camping and the Club is the friendliness – I’ve made friends all over the country, people I would never have met if I wasn’t in the Club. My husband John and I still love to get out and about all year round in our motorhome.”
Club Director General Sabina Voysey said: “Jane is highly regarded for her attention to detail, and her friendly but robust approach to the business side of the Club. I look forward to working with Jane to steer the Club throughout 2025 and beyond.”
