A rare early 20th-century bow-top caravan is due to be sold at auction later this January.

For caravanners who have been looking at small caravans with an eye-catching exterior, it could be an enticing prospect – albeit one that you wouldn’t tow in the conventional manner. The 3.25m long wooden trailer has an outer cabin painted in burgundy, gold and white, with spoked wheels and the undercarriage in yellow, green and black.

The spec will always be important when you’re buying a used caravan, and this compact bow-top tourer comes with a bunk, cupboards, drawers, a mirror and a stove.

The bow-top caravan was previously sited at Dunkirk Manor at Theescombe near Stroud. It is one of the last items from that estate to be auctioned off, due to the difficulty of moving it.

The striking tourer is due to go under the hammer at the Cotswold Auction Company’s Cirencester office on 21 January, and is expected to fetch between £2000 and £3000.

For those who are thinking of buying a different type of tourer, the upcoming Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at the NEC in February could be the place to go, where the leading brands will be displaying the latest vans – if you’re planning to go, don’t miss our ticket code for the February NEC Show!
