Verdict
This is a very comfortable van that would make a perfect seasonal pitch, even if there are some slight niggles, such as the shower drain. The lounge is somewhere any family should be happy to be, and the kitchen is particularly well equipped.
Pros
- Comfortable lounge
- Excellent kitchen storage
Cons
-
Front double bed is a bit narrow
- Only one drainage hole in the shower
The Alvor is one of two new models Bailey introduced to its luxury Alicanto Grande range this season, when it became Alicanto Grande Deluxe.
I went to Wandahome Knottingley to check out the tourer that was our pick for the best caravan for seasonal pitches at the Practical Caravan Awards 2025.
Pitch and set-up
When it comes to a car/caravan match, you are going to need a hefty vehicle to tow the Alvor, but at least the two axles will give you plenty of payload. You also get ATC and an AKS 3004 stabiliser.
The mains hook-up point is on the front offside corner, so it won’t get in the way of the door. The cassette access is on the nearside, but it’s right at the back, so should only be an issue if you have a full awning.
Lounge in the Bailey Alicanto Grande Deluxe Alvor
The best caravans are always going to provide a good lounge area, and in the case of the Alvor, I consider it to have one of the most comfortable van lounges I have sat in. There are really firm base cushions and a bolster at each end of the ‘L’, plus you get no fewer than six elegantly toning scatter cushions.
The table, ample for four, is stored under the bed. I did find it takes a bit of hauling out as the bed only just stays up on its struts.

Also stored under the bed is a footstool, so you can make full use of the ‘empty’ side of the table. This is reassuringly secured under the bed with magnets and catches.
The footstool would be a great place for a child to sit and watch TV – this lounge is clearly designed for watching the best caravan TV (a 32in set is an optional extra). There is a window next to where the set would go, but it has a Roman blind, in case the sun shines in.
I thought the lighting was great. Loads of daylight comes in through the central and side windows. At night, along with ambient light, there are two spotlights with USBs, and two LEDs in the housing for the large window.
There’s a wireless charging pad in front of where the TV would go, and a mains socket above a little shelf, perfect to rest a cuppa.
Kitchen in the Bailey Alicanto Grande Deluxe Alvor
The permanent workspace in the kitchen is good, with two sockets nearby. If you need more space, Bailey has retained its wooden cover for the four-burner dual-fuel hob, which sits above a separate oven and grill.

The microwave is hidden in the base unit, allowing for a huge window that lets in loads of light over the sink. This has a swan-neck tap with a detachable head.

LED lights underneath the lockers and a striplight provide illumination at night. The huge 156-litre fridge is across the aisle.
Washroom in the Bailey Alicanto Grande Deluxe Alvor
The offside shower cubicle is very spacious, but surprisingly, it only has one drainage hole; self-levelling isn’t even an optional extra with this van. It does, however, have a beautiful illuminated panel with a rather eye-catching mulberry design, which lifts the look of the room, as does the smart built-in handbasin, with a lozenge-shaped, illuminated mirror behind it.
Sleeping in the Bailey Alicanto Grande Deluxe Alvor
Unusually, the island bed, with headboard complete with adjustable headrests, is on the offside. Even fully extended, I found there was plenty of room to walk to the washroom, thanks to the width of this van.

There’s a bedside table on each side, plus spotlights with USB ports. A dresser unit with a mains socket, a full-height mirror on the wardrobe and a second set of TV sockets add to the comfort here.
I thought the L-shaped settee was easy to turn into a double too – you just pull out slats and put the main backrests on top. The TV shelf means the bed has differing lengths, however, and it is only 1.4m wide. It stops short of the kitchen because there needs to be room to open the cupboard housing the microwave.
Storage in the Bailey Alicanto Grande Deluxe Alvor
The external locker door on the front nearside leads to an underseat area with a waterproof floor. Getting to it from inside involves lifting up almost all the cushions.
In contrast, the area under the front part of the settee is only reached via the access flap. Up front, there are smaller cupboards under the TV area, two overhead lockers and two front corner lockers.
The area under the island bed is also externally accessible and has lots of room, even with the footstool stored there. The large wardrobe and two overhead lockers should more than suffice, while there are drawers in the bedside table and more storage in the dresser. Don’t forget to refresh your knowledge on loading a caravan to pack your tourer safely.
In the kitchen, there’s a huge area under the microwave where you could store pans, and two more deep pan lockers and two drawers in the base unit. Two big overhead lockers, a shallower one over the window, a pull-out shelf unit and a large locker high above the fridge are more than enough for dry food and kitchenware.
Washroom storage includes a double cupboard under the basin, two lockers under a shelf below that, and shelving and lockers above the toilet.
Alternatives to consider
The Coachman Laser 845 Xtra provides an opulent living space and plenty of comfort which could make it a great choice for a seasonal pitch. Alternatively, the Adria Alpina Colorado offers a comfortable lounge and a smart new exterior colour that adds a touch of warmth to the tourer.
